The Brief

Maison Orb is a niche fragrance house making five scents a year, all by hand. They needed a brand and a store that felt closer to a perfumer's notebook than a beauty brand.

Restraint was the entire point.

Ch. 01

A house, not a grid

We built the identity around a single serif wordmark and a set of hand-drawn orbs — one per scent — used sparingly as chapter marks throughout the site.

No lifestyle photography. The product is the smell; the site is the container.

Ch. 02

Reading a scent

Each fragrance gets a long-form page written like an essay: origin, notes, and a single closing line from the perfumer. The buy button waits until you've finished reading.

Ch. 03

Quietly commerce

Under the editorial skin, it's a standard Shopify store. We hid the plumbing behind custom components so the transaction never interrupts the tone.

People now email us about the writing before they email us about the perfume. That's exactly what I wanted.
